Subscriptions
Subscriptions are paid annually. The present subscription is £65 for the season, with a concessionary rate of £45 for retired members (but such members are invited to pay more than this, up to a maximum of the full subscription, according to what they feel they can afford). The subscription for student members is £9.
Attendance
Registers are sent round at each rehearsal, and members are expected to ensure that they have signed the register. Members missing too many rehearsals will be expected to withdraw from participating in the concert.
Music
Scores for each concert are ordered by the Librarian, and you will be given a form asking whether or not you require a copy of each piece of music, and if so, whether you wish to buy or hire a copy. This will usually be done well in advance of the start of rehearsals.
It is very important that you return any hired music immediately after the concert. Lost or unreturned copies MUST be paid for.
Concerts
There are generally three concerts per season: in November, March and June. The venues are arranged annually, and are usually the King's Hall, Newcastle University, the Sage Gateshead, or St George's Church in Jesmond. The summer concert is often in another venue by arrangement.
Concert Dress
Ladies: long black skirt or trousers and black top with at least elbow length sleeves.
Men: black shirt, black trousers and black shoes.
Ticket Sales
Tickets sales are our main source of income, and it is important that members sell as many tickets as they can. These are available from the line reps. Other outlets are (usually) J.G.Windows, and the Ticket Information Centre, Newcastle. Tickets are also available via this Web site (using the 'Buy tickets' link on the 'Events' page).
Rehearsals are held on Monday evenings, 18.30 to 20.30, generally in the King's Hall, Armstrong Building, Newcastle University.
Rehearsal dates for 2009/10:
The first rehearsal in 2010 will be on January 11th.
