Subscriptions are paid annually. The present subscription is £75 for the season, with a concessionary rate of £50 for those on a p[ension (but such members are invited to pay more than this, up to a maximum of the full subscription, according to what they feel they can afford). The subscription for student members is £10. The treasurer will be happy to to speak in confidence with anyone who has difficulty with the subscription fee.
Registers are sent round at each rehearsal, and members are expected to ensure that they have ticked the register. If a member misses too many rehearsals they not be sufficiently prepared to participate in the concert.
Scores for each concert are ordered by the Librarian, and you will be given a form asking whether or not you require a copy of each piece of music, and if so, whether you wish to buy or hire a copy. This will usually be done well in advance of the start of rehearsals.
It is very important that members return any hired music immediately after the concert. Members losing or failing to return any hired music scores are expected to pay for the cost incurred in replacing it.
We normally have three concerts per season: in November, March/April and June. The November concert is usually in the Kings Hall, and in recent years we have performed our March/April concert at the Sage Gateshead. The summer concert is often in another venue by arrangement.
Advised before each concert, but normally:
- Ladies: long black skirt or trousers, black top with at least elbow length sleeves, black stockings/tights, black shoes.
- Men: black shirt, black trousers, black socks, black shoes.
Tickets sales are our main source of income, and it is important that members sell as many tickets as they can.
- For concerts at The Sage Gateshead, tickets are available from The Sage Gateshead box office or Newcastle Bach Choir line reps.
- For all other concersts, tickets are available from line reps., and usually WeGotTickets (online), J.G.Windows, and the Ticket Information Centre, Newcastle. Tickets are also available via this Web site (using the 'Buy tickets' link on the 'Events' page).
