JANE DARBY

Jane Darby, mezzo-soprano, grew up in Hexham, developing her musical interests at school and with local choral societies. She competed successfully in regional festivals, and also played violin in the County Youth Orchestra. Since moving to London, she has studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Laura Sarti, specialising in Italian and Spanish repertoire.

Her operatic roles include Dorabella in Mozart’s Cosi fan Tutte for the Canterbury Festival, Olga in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin with Kensington Chamber Orchestra, Anita in Bernstein’s West Side Story for Pimlico Opera and Natasha in The Master and Margarita for Millennium Opera.
Jane has sung in Rossini’s Petite Messe Solonnelle at Dartington, and in Bach’s St Matthew Passion, in the version dramatised by Jonathan Miller.
