NEWCASTLE BAROQUE

Newcastle Baroque was founded in 1997 by George Parnaby to give audiences in the North experience of music as it might have sounded at the time it was written. The ensemble, which numbers from four to thirty-four, brings together northern-based musicians with specialists from the field of baroque and classical performance practice, playing on period instruments. It has worked with various directors including Simon Jones (Leader of the King’s Consort), Adrian Chandler (Director of La Serenissima), and Rebekah Durston (European Union Baroque Orchestra).
